Sensei Peter Tas has been studying Kenpo for the last 20 Years and currently holds the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt Associate Professor as a first generation Student of Associate
Master of the Arts 8th Degree Graham Lelliott, (1st Generation student of the Senior Grand Master of American Kenpo – Mr Edmund Parker the founder of American Kenpo.)
He also studies the Arts of Kyusho Jitsu which he holds the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt under Mr Steve Stewart a 8th degree Black Belt in both
American Kenpo and 9th Deg Black Belt in Kyusho Jitsu, who is also a first generation student of 10th Degree Kyusho Master George Dillman and 10th Degree Kenpo Master Frank Trejo.
In 2004 he founded Personal Self Defence to help spread the art of Kenpo within the Bayside area of Victoria and continue his own Journey, during which time he has involved with various Kenpo organizations.
In 2004 he studied under Mr Jeff Speakman (The Perfect Weapon, 1990) the founder of the American Kenpo Karate Society (AKKS) worldwide as the Bayside
Victoria representative from 2004 to 2006, receiving his 1st Degree Black Belt in 2005 as a first generation student of Mr Speakman’s.
Mr Tas was the Victorian State Director for Kenpo4kids from 2004 to 2009 and Kenpo Karate Australasia from 2007 to 2009. In 2008 he hosted the Kenpo4kids
world championship tournament in Melbourne, Victoria and also hosted Mr Ed Parker Jr, son to the Grandmaster of American Kenpo.
After his involvement in various Kenpo organisations and 5 Systems of Kenpo over the years, in 2009 Mr Tas decided to focus his energies on developing
his own school and Personal Self Defence, becoming an independent group free from politics, and beginning his journey with his 2 current mentors who he
actively trains with.
He was also featured in the Kenpo Continuum 2 book by Amy Long which features Kenpo Black Belts from around the world.
Today Personal Self Defence has training locations across VIC with affiliations in NSW and QLD.
Within the group Sensei Tas travels regularly to train with and provide training and support to the group and other Kenpo Practitioners.
